**A word about apron front sinks.
Apron front sinks, sometimes referred to a Farm Sinks, are beautiful and stylish, but please keep in mind that they will not fit into a standard kitchen cabinet without some cabinet modification.
Since the front of the sink (the exposed part in front) is about 10 inches from top to bottom, the front part of the cabinet (the false front above the doors) will have to be removed. In addition to this you will find that on a standard cabinet the front of the sink will extend down into the doors that open under the sink requiring that the doors be shortened.
If you are having new cabinets built, or ordering the sink for new construction, be sure that you tell the cabinet maker that you are using an apron front sink so he can get the measurements for a proper fit. A competent remodeler can also make the changes required to use the sink in your cabinets, but he must know in advance.
Most companies strictly in the countertop business (i.e., your stone countertop fabricator) do not have the expertise to make these changes to your cabinets. Be sure to ask them. Please make sure that you address these issues before you order the sink. Buying the sink and then finding out it is too big of a project for you to use it or hearing from you countertop man that it will not fit will only delay your project.
